Success Story of Gabrielle Coco Chanel

Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, also known as Coco Chanel is one of the most influential designers in the history of fashion.  She was born on August 19th, 1883 in France.  Her mother died at a young age, and Gabrielle’s father was not able to take care of 5 children alone.  This is why Gabrielle spent 6 years in an orphanage of the Roman Catholic monastery.  When Gabrielle was 20 years old, she started working as a cabaret singer.  This is where she got her nickname, Coco.  She had many male admirers, and she became a mistress to many powerful men in the society.  Because of this, Gabrielle was able to get financial aid and social connections to start a fashion business in 1913.  Due to the World War, she closed her store in 1939.  However, when the war was over she took a risk to open her store again after 14 years of absence from the fashion industry. Coco Chanel’s famous fashion brand has lead worldwide and her legacy is still being continued by her successor, Karl Lagerfeld.

Over the years, Gabrielle has faced many challenges as a designer.  However, she never gave up and continued following her passion.  She took advantage of her social connections and took risks all the time.  I believe that Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel is a true entrepreneur.                   Further information can be found here.
